Professional Liability Insurance Services, LLC was founded in 2002. The company provides loss prevention consulting and Risk Management for nursing homes and insurance companies. We also offer nurse expert services to attorneys.

The 30 years plus of experience in nursing home operations and clinical services enables us to offer a variety of Risk Management options to nursing homes from large chain operators to the individual facility owner.

MITIGATION SOLUTION was added to our name in 2004 to emphasize our commitment to mitigating potentially costly situations for its clients. Mitigation Solution employs Registered Nurses with experience in nursing home clinical operations. All on-site visits to nursing homes are conducted by a Registered Nurse team leader. We also employ Loss Prevention personnel with experience in identifying potential losses and trends and data management.

Site visit survey results are used for underwriting and for on-going Risk Management review. Our nurses understand the rigors of running a nursing home in today’s litigious climate and are able to provide practical suggestions backed up with sample forms, policies and training. Mitigation Solution clients also benefit from unlimited telephone access to personnel 24 hours a day.

Beth Alford RN, BSN, is the owner and an active participant of Mitigation Solution. It was founded by Ms. Alford in response to the growing number of suits filed against nursing homes. Ms. Alford knew that if nursing homes were provided with loss prevention tools all residents would be safer and therefore the risk of suits filed against nursing homes would be significantly reduced.

Alford’s expertise in the care of the elderly has included work with the Illinois Department of Public Aid, as well as positions of corporate nurse and vice president of nursing. She has developed and implemented many of the policies in place throughout the nursing home industry today, including prevention programs for falling, pressure sores and elopement, as well as guidelines for documentation and resident assessment and has been a speaker for many nursing home groups and associations. Alford has over 20 years experience in nursing home services and she has provided Risk Management and Claims services for over 10 years.
